Re taking supplements while on the Waterfall Diet - not normally a problem. Once you start the diet give the labels a quick check to make sure they don't contain anything on the No list.

I am taking 3 supplements to lose weight (alpha lipoic acid 200 mg daily, l-carnitine 500mg and chromium picolinate 500mg daily). I have ordered the book on amazon and looking forward to start the diet and feel good, should I keep on taking these or stop for some time?Tnx

My Italian isn't great, but the only ingredients I could see in the list were sodium and chloride, which is exactly the same as ordinary salt. Since the authorities decided that too much salt is bad for you after all, there are now more salt substitutes available on the market. The latest edition of the waterfall diet book (January 2010) does list a couple available in the US and UK, but your local health food store should be able to advise.
Regarding ELISA food intolerance tests, these are blood tests. In the body, food does not come into contact with the blood unless the intestines are inflamed, and then just about anything could cause an immune reaction, depending on what you have been eating that day.
Until clinical trials have been carried out comparing the efficacy of ELISA tests with that of a proper avoidance and challenge procedure as in the waterfall diet, I don't feel able to recommend them.

Hi Linda, I will start the waterfall diet next week, just wondering if you know an italian salt substitute called Gocce di sale, (salt drops) www.goccedisale.it it reads 75% less sodium, I live in Milan and I am familiar with it, it tastes just like salt, but it's liquid I like it very much and I was wondering if I can use it during phase 3.... instead of regular salt... also I was wondering your opinion for food intollerance blood exam, Food Intollerance test (F.I.T.) analizing IgG ,using ELISA method I read you're not recomending any blood exams but as you wrote the book on 1999 I was wondering if you have any updating on this, thank you very much!
regards,
Bettina
