Melanoma

From The Nutritional Health Bible by Linda Lazarides (1997). This free database is provided for interest only. Linda's later writings refer to more up-to-date research.

Some causative factors

The survival rate of 153 melanoma patients treated with the Gerson therapy, which restricts the intake of protein, sodium and fat and increases potassium and vitamin/mineral intake by the regular administration of freshly pressed fruit and vegetable juices, were compared with patients in the mainstream literature. For stage I and II melanoma, no Gerson patients suffered progress of the disease after admission, compared with an average survival rate of 79% for conventionally treated patients. For stage III melanoma 71% of the Gerson patients survived for 5 years, compared with only 27% to 42% in conventionally treated patients.
