Dietary factors were analyzed in a group of sufferers from respiratory
symptoms. It was found that a low intake of vitamin C and zinc and a high
intake of sodium correlated with a higher incidence of bronchitis and

Promising nutritional research
2,510 patients with bronchitis, bronchial asthma and emphysema were treated
for 4 weeks with the amino acid N-acetylcysteine in addition to the patients'
usual medications. All selected parameters improved, especially for
