Some causative factors

  • Environmental pollution by dioxins
  • Possibly nutritional deficiencies.

16 monkeys were fed dioxin in their diet for 4 years. 71% of those who had been fed the highest levels of dioxin were found to have endometriosis 6 to 10 years later. 3 of these animals died from the disease. Reported in Gibbons A: Dioxin tied to endometriosis. Science 262(5138):1373(1), 1993.
